Last weekend my friend TJ came to visit us here in Colorado. TJ and taught together in North Carolina. He was the art teacher so we spent quite a bit of time together. He was really a great friend through all of the hard deployment times, Christmas programs, and school "drama". So of course, it was GREAT to see him again. He actually lives in Ohio now so hopefully I'll be able to see him again when I go home for Christmas break.
While he was here we also celebrated Todd's Birthday. My birthday this year was a little sad for me and I thought it was going to be hard to get through. But my family and Todd made this past birthday so special! So with this being the first year Todd has been away from family on his Bday I wanted to make it special for him!
First of all (and most importantly) neither Todd or I worked on Friday! I took the day off, and it was wonderful. We went to
Mt. Princeton Hot Springs where we laid in the natural hot springs for HOURS. It was so awesome. The springs were at 104 degrees, and the cool spots from the river felt so refreshing. We were sitting in a natural river, with a hot spring under us, and snow all around us and of course the AMAZING mountains in the background. As I was laying there in the hot springs I realized that most people dive, fly and just travel for HOURS to come to the place I LIVE for vacation.... and for me it is not vacation, it's my life! WOW! I feel it is still such a blessing that I live in Colorado Springs. It is exactly what I needed at this time in my life. I feel so independent and proud at how far I've come in the past year. Ok, I got off track... Todd Birthday: here are some pictures. I'll "narrate" as I post the pictures! :)

Me and TJ

He's just so funny! :)

We drove into the mountains and found this REALLY old town called Mt. Saint Elmo. It was so cool! I don't know how in the world they get their groceries, or daily necessities, but it was still cool. This is one of the beautiful sites from that old, tiny town.

This was pretty much Todd's most exciting time of the weekend. He got his fly tying kit! Just what he wanted. I have yet to pull him away from it, and he's really good at it! :)

he's saved this case for the day that he got this kit. so funny.

the first fly!

looks fancy! he's way better at it now. :)

and this is how Todd has been sitting for the past week! he LOVES that thing

That night Todd wanted to go to
Red Hot and Blue. He thought it would just be me, him and TJ, but I had a little something up my sleeve. I had a friend from church meet us there and another friend and her boyfriend meet us there! He was surprised. Then they all came back to our house to enjoy the Christmas decorations, a game of cards, and a few drinks. We had a great time! and didn't close down the house until after 2am!! WOW! I NEVER stay up that late.
Todd was very excited and pleased with his b-day weekend.
Here are the boys playing cards.

My friend Kristin, me and TJ making funnel cakes at about midnight!

All in all, it was a GREAT weekend! This weekend is kind of a down weekend then next weekend..... I GO HOME TO WEST VIRGINIA!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!! I miss my family so much. I can't wait to hug on Koley-moley, read a book with Keirra Belle, go shopping with my sisters and MAYBE (weather permitting) go up to the pond with dad and Zach!
It is SOO the most wonderful time of the year!
(oh, yeah and only week of school till break)
